This school year, 2017-2018, is The Learning Curve's final year. It has been a genuine pleasure to work with you in such an innovative and important process. To help you transition in a manner that fits your needs, I have developed a partnership with the Virtual Learning Academy based in Middleboro, MA. VLA has been one of our clients and is prepared to accept your Moodle sites, courses and students in preparation for the next academic year, 2018-2019.

About Google Classrooms: Many of you have been migrating your districts to Google CLassrooms. Excellent! Google Classrooms is an excellent platform, very user friendly, and the price is right. On the other hand, students preparing for higher education are most likely to encounter Moodle or Blackboard when they enter a community college four-year college or university. This is where VLA can be extremely helpful. Please take a moment to see the VLA Moodle site at http://scrovla.org/

From now through June: Nothing will change at The Learning Curve until the end of this school year. However, I would like to work with each of you to develop a plan for this important transition. Each district has the following options, especially for students bound for higher education:

  1. We can move all or some of your Moodle courses to VLA and I will continue to work with your teachers in that location. At your local level, nothing changes except for the location of your courses.
  2. You can opt for some of your students to take courses from the VLA curriculum. These courses are completely online, enabling you to meet the goal of every high school graduate experiencing at least one online course prior to graduation.
  3. You can migrate all your Moodle courses and teachers to Google Classrooms or some other platform, although that would not be the best solution for your high school juniors and seniors.
  4. You can migrate your Moodle courses to some other Moodle provider.

There might be other options as well, but these are my suggestions. VLA is enthusiastic about working with each of you as described above. Please let me know how you would like to proceed during the rest of this school year. I am available to help in any way I can.
